The latest from SnoDrift Rally
Last weekend kicked off the 2007 Rally America Championship with the Sno*Drift rally in Northeastern Lower Michigan. With the help of Carl Seidel, co-driving, and Josh serving as crew chief, Barefoot Racing began its third season. The weekend covered more than 100 stage miles on tight and twisty roads. Competitors from all across the country, Canada, and Italy showed up to prove their skills on the snow and ice covered surface.
Barefoot Racing, still in the ’87 VW GTI, began the weekend pushing hard and trying to stay with up coming stars Chris Duplessis and Even Moen. However, by the middle of stage two, a big off and near roll over calmed driver, Paul Koll, down enough to take it slow and conservative the rest of the weekend. Even with this strategy the weekend was not without its surprises. Snow banks seemed to jump out on every stage, a few missed junctions, and even a spin or two kept us on our toes.
In the end Barefoot Racing was able to secure 3rd place in Group 2 and 8th place overall both days in the regional rallies. I would like to thank Carl and Josh for coming down with me and making the weekend possible. Also, The Keweenaw Brewing Company, DavenportRacingUSA.com, and Steinke Storage & Auto Body for their help and support for this event. Next event will be 100 Acre Wood in Salem, Missouri, for the Rally America Regional Cup at the end of February. (Read More…)
